You’ve got your Leonardo Dicaprio.
You’ve got your Matt Damon.
You’ve got your… Mark Wahlberg.
Uh… does Marky Mark have Ari Gold for an agent or something? Exactly HOW did Funky Bunch/Boogie Nights Wahlberg get top billing (thought not his picture on the poster, see left) for “The Departed,” especially when Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin are also in it?
I will tell you why, because he was the best part about the whole damn movie. Him AND Alec Baldwin, actually. Way more enjoyable than the other three supermegastars.
Don’t get me wrong – everyone did a great job and it was an excellent movie which I highly recommend. The very, very end got a tad cheesy and unraveled a bit, but I think it was intentional.

I must say that I have to disagree with your "No Eye Candy"... Leo DiCaprio has never 'done it' for me in the past, but to see him all buff and mean and dirty was so hot! And Matt Damon is always hot! And the East Coast accents added to the appeal! I do agree though, that the movie was great!
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie flags of our father and thought it was ok.
ReplyDeleteI felt FooF was more about the PSTD after the war; but still mixed in with blood, guts, and gore.
Afterwards I snuck into The Guardian; which is basically Officer and a Gentleman / Top Gun ---ish -- but with the coast guard. Ashton Kutcher is actually pretty darn good.
Your comment about "Does Marky Mark have Ari Gold for an agent or something?" is interesting in that the crazed behaviour of Marky Mark's old agent (Ari Emmanuel) was the inspiration basis for the entire "Entourage" series ... hope this isn't old news to you or your readers!
