My husband and 15 yr old daughter liked it, but the scientist in me thought it needed a better explanation than they gave for "the happening". It was just okay to me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26412800.post-86991582383981816872008-06-16T11:34:00.000-05:002008-06-16T11:34:00.000-05:00My sister saw The Happening over the weekend. I asked her about it yesterday, wanting to hear how gross it was... her initial resonse: "Omigod! do NOT see that movie!!" I said, "why, was it really gross??" and she said, "no, it was just really REALLY bad!!" She explained to me the premise of the movie, and the premise itself sounds too disturbing to me, even if it is not that graphic (which I still don't buy, she has a much stronger stomach for that stuff than I do). She said she was left wondering if M.Night was TRYING to make it funny, or if it was just so ridiculous that it came off as funny. She said it seemed like everyone in the theater felt the same about the movie as she did. So I think I will stay far, far away!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26412800.post-34012918195959990122008-06-12T10:44:00.000-05:002008-06-12T10:44:00.000-05:00Hi everyone - Anon - I have heard great things abo...Hi everyone -

Anon - I have heard great things about "The Visitor," so if I don't catch it in the theater, I will definitely get it in my Netflix queue right away. Hadn't heard of "The Fall," but that one sounds up my alley, too.

JediJohnson - I definitely will NOT be watching the red-band trailer then, I don't like anything graphic at all. But from what you said, the nail is now in the coffin for this movie for me.

CinematicallyCorrect - That's good to know about Zohan. I'll probably Netflix that one too for a good laugh one night. I actually liked Click, so if it's better than that, that's a good sign for me.

The Other E - I haven't seen Scanners, but I guess neither of us will be seeing The Happening to compare it anyway!

Fuzzyhalo - OK, we will all be awaiting your take on The Happening then! And I think you are right on The Strangers. My friend, Nerdy P, who was literally RAISED on horror movies, was totally freaked out by that movie. And you must believe me, NOTHING scares her. So I would stay away from it if I were you. I also thought I read that it was based on a true story, which makes it even worse, but now I can't find where I read that.

Wanders - Ha! I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you will pick up some extra traffic!

- eErika (aka "e")https://www.blogger.com/profile/17051946388926947935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26412800.post-86212769943831697632008-06-12T07:48:00.000-05:002008-06-12T07:48:00.000-05:00My wife and I cracked up when we saw the Happening...My wife and I cracked up when we saw the Happening commercial and they made such a big deal about "His First R-rated Movie." Like that was a good thing?

I thought the Marly & Me trailer was cute, but I'm just really hoping that a lot of people will miss-type Marly & Me into their browsers and end up at Mary Worth & Me.Wandershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11411177284399969610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26412800.post-55656153280508139062008-06-11T14:02:00.000-05:002008-06-11T14:02:00.000-05:00I loved "The Visitor"! I can't speak as to why the "R" rating but it certainly seems it wouldn't need any of the elements of language, nudity, violence in order to pull that plot off. Plus it just reminds me of an old movie Scanners.

The Other EAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26412800.post-17498869655877200822008-06-11T13:36:00.000-05:002008-06-11T13:36:00.000-05:00I saw "The Zohan". That's it.

It's the funniest Sandler movie in quite some time though. It's way better than the messes that are "Click" and "Mr. Deeds".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26412800.post-22312229519534701032008-06-11T13:35:00.000-05:002008-06-11T13:35:00.000-05:00Hey E, wait til you see what The Happening is abou...Hey E, wait til you see what The Happening is about, it's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I was really upset about the R rating too. I watched the "Red Band" trailer to see what the R was all about. And you're right. It's all really gross. It's not even that it's blood and guts more just what is going on and how graphic it is. Google the Red Band trailer to see if you're at all interested (Red Band is just a rated R trailer). I know it turned me off completely for that movie. Which is sad, because like you I love ALL his movies.JediJohnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01765702505129769794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26412800.post-48086049849580875542008-06-11T11:39:00.000-05:002008-06-11T11:39:00.000-05:00Two movies I recommend: "The Visitor" and "The Fal...Two movies I recommend: "The Visitor" and "The Fall." The Visitor is about immigrants in New York befriending a professor from Connecticut. The Fall is a story being told to a little girl in the hospital. It goes back and forth from the present to the story. While it's rated R the violence is minimal. It really should have been PG-13.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
