Last night I finally saw the official trailer for The X-Files: I Want to Believe, and now I'm very hyped up that the movie is only a few weeks away. Mulder and I will be reunited, all rejoice! I am going to have an extra-special post right before the movie comes out, and it will include some old-school pictures of myself from when I went to a few X-Files conventions (yes, you read that right) ten full years ago. So stay tuned for that... but in the meantime, here is the trailer. I tell ya, the theme song at the end still gives me the chills.
The X-Files: I Want to Believe
Step Brothers
Another movie that's also premiering on July 25th is Will Ferrell's Step Brothers. The red-band (R-rated) trailer was much funnier than the one below, but all in all I still think it looks decent. But I won't be in line for it on opening night, though. I will have slept over at the theater waiting for The X-Files.
Tropic Thunder
One of the most controversial movies of the summer comes to us on August 15th. If you haven't heard yet, Robert Downey Jr. plays an African-American in it. When I first read about this film, I thought it was going to be horrible. But I must say, after seeing a few different clips and observing the very positive audience reaction when the trailer played in the theater, I think it's actually going to do quite well. Judge for yourself:
Quantum of Solace
And finally, the Bond trailer has been released! I think it looks AWESOME. And I was excited to see Mathieu Amalric (from the recently written-up The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) is in it... along with Daniel Craig, obviously. Judi Dench looks pretty creeptastic in it, too. My only beef is that this movie may just have the worst title ever--Quantum of Solace?!?! What does that even mean?!?!

e,
Ha ha ... can't wait for your x-file pics - I should break out mine.
I know I'll have to breakout my box set and watch all the pertinent episodes real quick. Black Oil.
Great times.
The Other E
Quantum of Solace is actually a name of one of the Bond short stories (though the story has nothing to do with the movie). As I understand it, it is referring to the small amount of comfort that Bond is trying to get through revenge on the people responsible for Vesper's death. (I have also heard it rumored that Quantum is the name of a new evil organization since it doesn't make sense to use the Soviet SMERSH like in so many of the books, but I have no idea how true that is.)
Quantum of Solace and X-Files are two of the things I am really looking forward to during the rest of this year. (In addition to this month's comic book double feature of Batman and Hellboy.)
